Let’s give it up for the newest member of the College Fund Landscaping family, Roberto “Berto” Rivera! Roberto joined us at the start of the month, bringing his many years of experience in the landscaping industry to our team. His customer-first approach caught Matt’s attention and attracted by CFL’s family atmosphere and wholesome values, the Houston native agreed to take on the role of Operations Manager.

As a prior athlete and coach his passion resonate in his work. Roberto likes all sports especially outdoor ones, but he also has likes other things as well like food and old-school comedy. Before entering the landscaping industry, the keen rugby-player owned a boxing gym, where he had the chance to mentor young aspiring athletes. He still boxes and plays rugby regularly, and looks forward to summer, when he can spend more time outdoors.

The green thumb runs in Roberto’s family. Before moving to the US in the 1970s, his father was a farmer in El Salvador, which Roberto said was tough work. After the move, his parents worked hard to teach him and his sister English and Spanish, resulting in Roberto gaining a place to study Construction Management at Sam Houston State University. Leading up to college in high school Roberto trained in Industrial Technology and received state awards for house modeling & drafting.

In his new role as Operations Manager, Roberto will be managing the day-to-day operations of our crews. He will also be helping our company become more efficient while maintaining the high quality of landscaping that CFL is known for. His standard of professionalism yet down to earth personality will help assist in the company’s core values. With his knowledge in the landscaping and construction industry, he will be able to assist our family in every department.

A natural extrovert, Roberto relishes any opportunity to work directly with people. From crews to clients, Spanish or English he’s excited to make his mark and to help our family run smoother and grow.

He said: “The landscaping industry is very competitive here in North Texas, but what I like about working at College Fund is that we always focus on quality rather than quantity.  We’re not just about mowing and blowing, we care about the appearance of our work and how we carry ourselves on the job. I also like that the owner gives back to the community.”

We hope that everyone will give Berto a Big Texas welcome, and make him feel part of the College Fund Landscaping family!
